WordPress offers two ways to organize your posts, Categories and Tags. This is a reason to love WordPress (even if the Block Editor makes you dizzy)

And it provides you plenty of ways to view all posts in a category or all ones with a given tag.

But what if you want to link to both of those together? Is there something that can combine two great taxonomies? Hey! You got tags in my categories!

Making this work for you depends on how well you have used categories and tags. If all your posts are sitting inside “Uncategorized” and your tag cloud has no vapor, this will not help you.

Let’s see how it works.

I have a big bucket (category) or WordPress posts – 223 of them as of now https://cogdogblog.com/category/wp/

And I have 95 ones tagged SPLOT https://cogdogblog.com/tag/splot/

But with my knowledge that tagged posts are found by tacking on ?tag=keyword to any WordPress URL I can now create an intersection link.

These are all 61 posts in the WordPress category also tagged “splot” https://cogdogblog.com/category/wp/?tag=splot

Now that seems like a tasty candy bar to have.
